METZELER is recalling in the United Kingdom its tyre Metzeler Tourance 150/70 R17 M/C 69V manufactured in weeks 09 and 10 of 2010.

As part of METZELER's ongoing quality checks we have identified an issue with one batch of tyres produced in weeks 9 and 10 of 2010 and in line with METZELER's commitment to consumer safety have decided to commence a voluntary safety recall to remove all such affected tyres from the market.

The affected tyres could suffer tread block tearing which on some occasions could lead to the separation of some blocks, causing a sudden and unexpected vibration of the motorcycle. In any case there is no risk of air loss from the tyre.

As a precautionary measure, METZELER has decided to replace the affected tyres which are only as follows: Tyre size: 150/70 R17M/C 69V Tourance (Rear), identifiable by the following markings on the sidewall: DOT EB OY B279 0910 or DOT EB OY B279 1010

If you have tyres in this size with DOT codes not listed above then such tyres are not part of this recall. As a result, it has been concluded that these tyres do not consistently meet the optimum Metzeler quality-specifications which guarantee safe tyre performance, and METZELER has decided to immediately remove all the mentioned tyres from the market.

DOT code can be found on the sidewall right above the wheel rim. Make sure your tyre is of make and model: METZELER 150/70 R17 M/C 69V TL Tourance. Then, look for a DOT code EB OY B279 0910 or EB OY B279 1010 on the sidewall.
