Which Transponder for Road Racing?

Could lose count of how many phone calls we get asking... "which transponder is best for Road Racing"

The answer is very simple a Tranx 260 is required.

This Transponder comes in two types Rechargeable or Direct Powered, which type you prefer is a personal preference or limited by your machine capabilities.

When to use a Direct Powered transponder?

Use a machine with a full charging system with battery fitted

Don't swap between machines

Advantages of using Direct powered.

By wiring into the kill switch once all the bike systems are OFF the transponder is OFF. When the kill switch is ON the transponder is ON... Simple!!

Disadvantage is you can't swap between machines

When to use a rechargeable transponder?

If you use one or more machines and want to swap between machines

No charging system

Disadvantage is you have to make sure it's charged before a meeting!

Personally I couldn't be hassled with making sure a transponder is fully charged before a busy racing weekend. Maybe that why all classes at MotoGP use direct powered transponders!

If you don't have a full charging system then maybe a Rechargeable Transponder is the answer, although the Direct Powered transponder would also work. As I said it's personal preference, although by choosing a Direct Powered transponder you save £45.09

Note: ALL 125cc machines in MotoGP use direct powered transponders, and they don't have batteries.
